Weight Loss Help

Obesity in America: home of the free and the gluttonous.

2/3 of American adults are overweight. And 1/3 of those are obese.

With crazy, jam-packed schedules and the ease of unhealthy fast food options, it’s easy to understand how our nation has transformed into a society with ever-expanding waistlines.

In 2012, Mississippi took the prize for being the fattest state in the nation. And while Florida doesn’t rank in the top 10, we certainly aren’t the leanest state by any stretch of the imagination. 62.4% of Florida’s population falls into the overweight category with 25.9% spilling into the obese range. But we don’t have to continue falling prey to this unhealthy trend. Simple changes in our everyday routine can not only help us lose weight but also reduce our risk for some of the diseases and health ailments commonly associated with excess weight.

As the infographic below indicates there are a lot of health issues that are associated with excess weight and obesity.

Health Issues

Some health issues that are associated with being overweight include:

  • Heart disease
  • Diabetes
  • High cholesterol
  • Liver damage
  • Arthritis
  • Sleep apnea

The good news is that being overweight doesn’t have to be in your future. Slim can be in your future if you want it to be.

Losing weight doesn’t have to be a challenge. Simple changes in your everyday routine can make a big difference in your weight loss results.

For instance, below are some small changes you can make in your everyday routine to help you lose weight:

  • Swap out 1 soda a day for a glass of water.
  • Take the stairs instead of the elevator.
  • Eat balanced meals that include lean protein and low glycemic vegetables or fruits.
  • Get up every hour from your desk to walk around.
  • Exercise during commercial breaks while watching your favorite TV shows.

It’s simple changes like this that can make a drastic impact on your weight loss efforts.
