green tea fat fighter

Revered as the almighty fat fighter, green tea has a growing list of health benefits from fighting fat to fighting cancer.

Obesity is a major concern in America with more than half of the American population overweight or obese but research has shown that green tea and green tea extract have been shown to fight obesity and lower LDL “bad cholesterol” – both risk factors for heart disease and diabetes. Scientists have found that green tea may be most effective with cardiovascular disease, dementia, certain types of cancer and weight loss.

A Swiss study has shown that green tea, catechins, and EGCG have all been successful at reducing body weight and body fat.

Penn State University demonstrated that EGCG not only inhibits the body from absorbing fat but also boosting its ability to use fat.

“Taken all together, the evidence certainly suggests that incorporating at least a few cups of green tea every day will positively affect your health,” says Diane McKay, Ph.D., a Tufts University scientist who studies antioxidants. “It’s not going to cure anything and it shouldn’t be consumed as a drug, but it can complement the rest of the diet.”

The relation between green tea and weight loss are substantially linked together through the thermogenic properties of the plant. Thermogenesis is your body’s process of speeding up the metabolism, burning calories and breaking down fat via heat.

The EGCG in green tea helps increase the 24-hour energy expenditure of the body. A study on green tea by American and Swiss scientists at the University of Geneva showed an additional increase of 4% in the body’s natural energy expenditure. People given green tea were more likely to use up more fat than those not on green tea.

If you’re looking to boost your weight loss, green tea is an excellent way to achieve greater success with your weight loss efforts.
